[1]The truffle hunt
[1]1st Day:
- Morning : trip to a 17th-century chateau for an unforgettable experience. With a guide, visit the estate for a demonstration of cavage (searching for truffles with dogs) on the truffle field. While the dogs work, you will learn about the complete biological cycle of the prestigious fungus, as well as the conditions for its production. You will return to the chateau with the results of your hunt (the truffle!) and, with your guide, discover the history and architecture of this site. Of course there is no question of leaving before you have tasted products with truffle, accompanied by a glass of Burgundy wine (Too much alcool is dangerous-drink with moderation).
- Back to beaune and lunch: you are free to lunch at the restaurant of your choice (at your charge).
- At the beginning of the afternoon, a guide will take you in his vehicle for a tour through the vineyards and traditional villages located along the route. You will abble to enjoy the view of the gently sloping hillsides covered with rows of vines worked by the wine growers. one of them will welcome you to their estate for a tasting (Too much alcool is dangerous-drink with moderation).
- Return to Beaune and installation in the hotel.
- Evening: rendez-vous at a good restaurant in the centre of town for dinner, drinks not included.
- Return to the hotel.
2nd Day:
- Breakfast.
- Visit of the largest wine cellars in Burgundy, installed in a former monastery dating from the 17th century. Your tour will take you through an impressive labyrinth of galleries in which several million bottles are stored. After this introduction, you will find thirteen wines waiting to delight your palate. There will be a welcome present before you leave.
- Lunch: you are free to lunch at the restaurant of your choice (at your charge).
- Take a voyage in the history of France and the Duchy of Burgundy during a visit to the Hospices de Beaune, a superbly preserved masterpiece of flamboyant Gothic art from the 15th century, famous throughout the world. The roofs of glazed coloured tiles and the magnificent polyptych by Van den Weyden will take your breath away.
- The typically Burgundian architecture of the Museum of Wine (Musée du Vin) contains collections that present the tradition, objects and techniques of viticulture.
- End of the programme.
